Conference Centres in the Tirolean Alps

Glaring lights, carpeted floors, air conditioning that’s too cold, no natural light – this is how many people picture a congress centre - but not in Tirol. The seven congress centres in the region are architecturally designed to allow as much natural light as possible into the rooms and to ensure that the surrounding mountains are always visible. Direct access to adjacent meadows, woods and parks makes it possible to incorporate nature into the agenda.

Congress centres are places for the transfer of knowledge, research and further development. Spending time in nature has been shown to have positive effects on physical, mental and emotional well-being. This combination is the key to the success of Congresses in Tirol.

The Gurgl Carat – shaped like a cut diamond – is Europe’s highest-altitude Congress centre, situated at an altitude of 1,930 metres. The glacier-capped mountains in the upper Ötztal valley can be admired from the Congress centre, but are best enjoyed right on the doorstep during walks across the meadows in the valley floor.

The architecture of the Alpbach Congress Centre blends in a unique way with the traditional architectural style of the Tyrolean mountain village and the Alpine landscape. To preserve as much green space as possible, part of the Congress centre was built into the hillside. The central glass spiral and large glass façades allow plenty of natural light to flood into the rooms. The roof is adorned with a flower meadow, which is used for outdoor sessions and, in summer, provides a home for the Alpbach cows.

The park, with its old spruce trees, green spaces and a pond, stretches out in front of the terrace.
