A winter experience with a broad outlook, far removed from the everyday. Getting out and about, seeing things from a different perspective, sharing a special experience together – and offering the team an event that isn’t just another run-of-the-mill programme, but one that will be remembered for a long time to come.
Maggie Childs – media influencer, speaker, presenter and coach – visited Tirol and has already tried out this rather different winter Incentive as part of an exciting challenge organised by the Austrian National Tourist Office.
Maggie is joined throughout the day by none other than Toni Innauer – Austrian ski jumper, Olympic champion and author.
High above the rooftops of Innsbruck, the pair meet at the Sky Restaurant on the Bergisel ski jump and, whilst catching up over a coffee, enjoy the panoramic view of the Inn Valley as it slowly awakens in the winter sun.
… and then it’s already time for Maggie’s first challenge. Now it’s time to keep her nerve!
Dressed in a ski-jumping suit, she heads out into the fresh mountain air onto the ‘shaky beam’. That’s right: this is the very same take-off ramp from which the ski jumping stars launch themselves into the air during the annual Four Hills Tournament. There’s no room for a fear of heights here, and the 400 metres down to the bottom of the jump suddenly look far more daunting than they do on TV. From the ‘shaky beam’, the ski jumpers prepare themselves and get ready to take off.
Maggie plucks up the courage (safely secured, of course) to step onto the ‘shaky beam’ and manages to pick up a ski jumping tip or two from Toni.
Tirolean ski jumpers Martin Nagiller and Thomas Ortner demonstrate what a proper take-off and landing by a professional actually looks like.
But Maggie gets her turn too and is allowed to jump. Not on the big hill, but an exciting take-off awaits her on the ‘fun jump’ for the second challenge.
Climb up onto the platform, build up momentum and take off onto the large air-filled cushion, which ensures a soft landing. The fun jump can be incorporated into an Incentive event or Incentive programme, such as a Winter Olympics featuring several disciplines.
To round things off, we head right back up to the top. On the terrace of the Sky Restaurant, you can not only enjoy a 360-degree view, but also a relaxed and special atmosphere as we bring an eventful Incentive day to a festive close.
