World's largest snow and avalanche conference in Innsbruck

Snow researchers from all over the world gathered in October 2018 in the multifunctional rooms of Congress Innsbruck.

The Federal Research Centre for Forests (BFW), together with the Tirol Avalanche Warning Service and Torrent Control Authority hosted the International Snow Science Workshop (ISSW), the world’s largest international conference on snow and avalanches, at Congress Innsbruck from 7th to 12th October 2018.

Around 1,000 snow experts from all over the world took advantage of the international and interdisciplinary exchange. Various presentation options, such as specialist lectures, poster presentations and panel discussions, as well as the integration of an international trade fair facilitated direct contact with a diverse specialist audience in the multifunctional rooms of Congress Innsbruck.

Professional Congress Organisers “PCO Tyrol Congress” ensured that the event ran smoothly. The five-person team can draw from many years of experience and, as an independent department of Congress Messe Innsbruck, deliver top quality with tailor-made, individual solutions. “We adapt one hundred percent of our procedures to the needs of our customers,” explains department head Ina Kähler. ISSW was therefore successfully provided with a comprehensive service, ranging from finance and abstract management, to organising hotel reservations and participant registrations.
